How your cup runneth over with what you owe...
Smiling after getting my first paycheck after Christmas, I was so excited. I think the both of us were.
We have a new puppy and were buying new furniture. The puppy is enjoying the space that came with the house so much and we really feel like this new place is the perfect place for him to live in. His last home was nearby and that was also good to have to set a nice backdrop for him while he’s adjusting to this new home. He’s as fluffy and as lovable as he is cute and the difference with our new dog is that he’s now part of our family. I got my first paycheck after three weeks of working from home and let it just wash over me.
Just as I had gotten used to the regular stream of social media images, Spotify listening, chit-chatting, walking the dog, sitting on the living room floor, playing with my little dogs on my computer, reading news articles, watching football on television, cooking dinner, taking a shower, resting my head on my shoulders and relaxing, we got back in the groove of living in reality as usual. For some odd reason, it took me a long time to get back to that same baseline I was at before the pandemic stopped everything and we were still living with our bubble in lockdown.
The main thing about the pandemic is the simple fact that everyone everywhere is being tested for not only COVID-19 but also for things like depression and anxiety. We were just in the middle of the gathering and now there is even work to be done around the house, like Christmas decorations and moving the car from one side of the house to the other (making sure that it doesn’t hit anything). During the pandemic, I experienced a lot of home stuff, I had to take to help our neighbors and I found myself cleaning the house at least twice a week. I was enjoying cleaning with my pets around and doing my laundry for the three days with me in a hot room with a dog-like nose in it.
The temperatures keep going up and it seems like things are just getting back to normal for us. You know what they say, you reap what you sow and now everyone who is also not a dog is in the same boat as us. With the beaches and a few beautiful bars by the opening of our home, look out, the pooch days are officially over. We will be doing something that is entirely different than our normal routine but it’s going to be fun.
It’s been a tough year but it’s also been one of growth and equality for animals and humans. By the end of it, we all hope to have a healthy community and be able to get back to the good old days of cruising in the neighborhoods playing on the park's set-up.
